GENERAL COMPUTER AND INTERNET USAGE SAFETY GUIDELINES

The following guidelines are suggested to ensure the safety of all users of the computer system at the Business Centre and/or The Peninsula Broadband Internet Access of The PeninsulaHong Kong (“our System”):

The computer provided in the business centre is public and is used by many different individuals throughout the course of the day. Avoid entering any sensitive information and always logout after use.

Do not give out personal details such as home addresses, telephone numbers, bank account details or other contact details via the Internet, particularly if the recipient is unknown. Do not save this information on or through our System. Treat anyone requesting such information with caution.

Avoid requests for 'real life' contact (face-to-face or telephone) with people met via the Internet. In many cases it is difficult to verify that people are who they say they are over the Internet.

Do not store or give out login information or passwords on our System or through the Internet. Any stored information on our System will be purged upon log-out. The Peninsula Hong Kong will not be responsible or liable for any loss data.

Be very cautious about giving financial information (e.g. credit card details) via the Internet. Please ensure that you fully understand the risks before doing so.

Do not reply to offensive or threatening messages via e-mail, discussion groups, newsgroups or other forums. Keep a copy of the message and inform your technology coordinator or Internet Service Provider.

A responsible adult should supervise Internet access by children appropriately and regularly.

Do not leave or save any personal or sensitive data on our System.

Be cautious about relying on information sourced from the Internet, particularly in the case of medical or other health information. Not all the information on the Internet is authoritative or reliable.

OUR SYSTEM USAGE POLICY/RESPONSIBILITIES OF GUESTS

LEGAL USE

Our Business Centre, its facilities and our System may only be used for legal purposes. Examples of illegal purposes include, but are not limited to, the following:

Harassment of other users or slandering other users.

Destruction of or damage to equipment, software or data belonging to the Hotel or other users.

Disruption or unauthorised monitoring of electronic communications.

Unauthorised copying or downloading of copyright-protected materials.

Installation of spyware or unauthorised applications into our System.

ETHICAL USE

Our Business Centre, its facilities and our System must be used in line with acceptable practices. Examples of unacceptable useinclude, but are not limited to, the following:

Violation of computer system security.

Unauthorised use of the computer accounts, access codes, or network identification numbers.

Violation of software license agreements.

Violation of network usage policies and regulations.

Interfering with system operation.

Degrading system performance in any way.

Forgery or unauthorised harvesting of third party data.

SANCTION

Unlawful use, misuse, or abuse of computer equipment, materials or our System will result in suspension or termination of user access to these resources. The Hotel reserves the right to suspend or terminate internet access and/or access to our Business Centre or our System from the Hotel at its sole discretion.

DISCLAIMER

The Internet and its available resources may contain material of a controversial nature. The Hotel cannot control access to material nor protect users from offensive data. Parents of minor children must assume responsibility for their children's use of the Internet through our System.

The Hotel cannot control availability of information links that often change rapidly. Not all sources on the Internet provide accurate, complete or current information. Users need to be vigilant, questioning the validity of the sender and the information they receive.

By using our System, you acknowledge the above mentioned GENERAL COMPUTER AND INTERNET USAGE SAFETY GUIDELINES and OUR SYSTEM USAGE POLICY/RESPONSIBILITIES OF GUESTS and agree that information transmitted both to and from our System is done at the your own risk.

The Peninsula Hong Kong assumes no responsibility or liability for any delays, claims, losses or damages (including but not limited to loss of information, files, data or damage to hardware), direct or indirect or consequential, arising from or in relation to the use of our System.
